Traverse The Lake Windermere Whiteway

The focal point of Invermere’s winter attractions is, of course, the Lake Windermere Whiteway. This iconic 34 km stretch of groomed track, expertly maintained by the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club, is a widely popular destination for skate and classic cross-country skiing, ice skating and fat biking.

Three entry points can be found along the frozen path: located at Kinsmen beach in Invermere, at the Invermere Bay Condos, and at Windermere Beach. This unique fixture of the Columbia Valley is a great way to accessibly experience winter’s charm, set by the amazing backdrop of the surrounding mountains.

The Annual Snowflake Festival

Marking the anniversary of 2010’s Winter Olympic Games, which saw Invermere hosting the Olympic Torch on its way to Vancouver, the town’s annual Snowflake Festival is a continuation of that winter celebration.
